Tomorrow will mark a new chapter in my life. Starting tomorrow I'm going to register for my doctorate degree here at UUM. So this mean I have to slow down my RC activities to concentrate on my study. I'm not going to stop my passion towards RC but I have to put low my throttle down for a while. 3 years to be exact.
So wish me luck.

Extra!!! Extra!!!
Guest what..new flat 3d foamies in town. Extra 330 from 3dbatix. This time I cut the plane on a PVC board to make a template. The reason why I made this template so that in the future I can reproduce this model much-much faster by cutting depron on this template.
Here is the template I made for extra330..
Heck I can cut 10 extra every day with this PVC template....hehehe
I've tested the template accuracy well it's good. I can cut depron in less than 1 hour on a single depron board. Previously I use two depron board for my Diablo so this time it's save time and material.
So here is my still unfinished extra330. Just left with electronics and decals..
I love building depron base 3d plane. Yesterday for the first time I can perform inverted and roll with plane which I don't dare to do it before.
So far with the current electronic setup of my plane I can go up until 12 minutes in the air with light 3d. I can perform prop hang with just half throttle.
Here's my complete setup:
Motor: Tower pro 2409 cost me $11
Esc: 30A Tower Pro cost me $13.79
Servo: 3 pieces HXT900 9g / 1.6kg / .12sec Micro Servo cost me $3.49 x 3 = $10.47
RX: Futaba 6ch RX : you can replace with esky rx which cost you around $12
Lipo: 2200 20c EMAX cost me $29
Depron cost $3
Cutting knife $0.6
Tape and decals: $5.4
So total cost $85.26 equal to MYR284
Of course for me my total cost would be around $40 eq to MYR130.

Zagi
Video taken during my zagi intermission flying session..:D enjoy
I like zagi because it's simple..it's tough..you can drop it like a bomb and it still can fly and I had so much fun flying my zagi..

Slow progressing SU27
Very slow progress indeed with su27 assembly. A lot of lesson learn from EDF plane assembly. It's quite challenging since this is my first DF.
1. Fit..everything must nicely fit. GWS EDF64 motor mount slightly bigger than my BL motor. This caused the motor play and cannot center in the DF. I've tried many ways to center the motor in the motor mount but no luck.
Solution: I never thought that this thing exist until I went to Alan Bunkyo. He had suggested to use this:
A spacer that makes my motor fit nicely into the DF motor mount. What a relieved.
2. Impeller shaft. This is major headache. The stock shaft that comes with the GWS EDF is 2mm size. But my BL shaft size is 2.3. Slightly bigger. I thought at first just drill the shaft to make it fit. It's a mistake my drilling caused the shaft hole to misalign from the center. This is bad. Never drill by your self when precise drilling is needed.
Solution: Buy new impeller shaft from hobbycity.
I've done with aileron servo assembly.
That's all for now. I'm waiting for the new shaft to arrive from Hong Kong. Maybe at the end of this year since.
Anyway happy new year...from slumberjerrc

Digital scale
I just bought a digital scale from www.lelong.com.my online purchased yesterday and received today afternoon..what a service!!! If you're interested to buy one here is the link kemen.
anyway I bought this digital scale because it is much2 accurate than my old analog scale. It's crucial to have an accurate scale for foamies flyer so that you know what weight you put on your foam plane.
I'm in the middle of building my su-27 so on the scale is my 2 BL 4200kv inrunner motors adn 2 30A ESC weighted at 202g..

Emax 20C 2200 mAh Lipo
all my lipos still in good condition..each recorded with ~45 cycles each already
45 cycles x 4 lipos..180 flight x 8 minutes (each session) = 1440 minutes / 60 = 24 hours non stop flying.. Here is 3 of my EMAX lipos..the other one is still charging..
Still rock solid holding the 2200mah recorded each charge..
so far each flying session will cost me RM400/ 180 flight = RM2.22..and decreasing..hmm I wonder how far my lipos will go..
Where can you get such a cheap bargain..well look at my fav OHS called bingun..
~$29 each equivalence to RM99 ..that's what I called a good bargain..

Finally..
Finally..
On my third attempt to shoot my P51 flying by my own self paid off..yup a video..not the highest quality due to cheap video camera..but it's average..The size is quite big (~22MB) so be patient.
This video is from pilot point of view. How I do it? Just cut your front cap sun shade and slot the camera into it.
This is my setup
My GWS P51D setup
1700kv apex BL motor
8' prop
30Amp himodel ESC
3 HS65 servos
Hitec 6ch PCM rx
2200 20c ABF Lipo (160g)
My lipo is barely warm after 7 minutes of flying and only consumes 700MaH..this mean I can fly this baby more than 15 minutes..
For those who are interested buying this plane you can get it at MalaysiaHobby
Total flying weight 600g
Enjoy

Success!!!
My Mustang has been successfully maiden this morning at 11.30 pm..wuhu..I did take video on the maiden but the result from cheap video cam just a bunch of dot..cant see anything. Even though today is quite windy all the time (6-7 kph) surprisingly P51 take off without any problem..smooth take off almost like my E-Starter..It's quite easy to handle even in 5-6 kph winds..it can even float!!!..I'm very happy with this warbird..
Skyarctec N9528 reborn Cessna
This is one of my favorite scale plane cessna!!!..I had her 3 months ago but crash during first maiden caused by stupid skyarctec receiver and since then I hung her up on my wall. But last night a vision comes back to me to revive my cessna..
Here she is with new BL motor and Himax 18A ESC with esky receiver..hope she can fly today. Will bring both planes to peremba today for weekly funfly.
Wish me luck also for P51.
Here a glimpse on my next project..already booked this plane..hehehe..you can see it's coming yaa..

GWS P51 Mustang..stay tuned
Ok as promised this is my new project..GWS P51 Mustang..
No electronic yet..
Finally just completed the assembly of my P51..
More picture
This is my first EP plane assemble by me. It's hard compared to Heli. I can assemble my Dragonus including electronic setup in just 3 hours. This baby took me 2 days with bruises here and there and lot of pain..see
Maybe this is my first experience with plane assembly.

LEO 15GP 15 size GP Helicopter
The 15 size engine and heli design by someone close to thunder tiger owner..the design comes from TT I think..the price is very tempting..together with muffler, 15 Leo engine and kit cost only US$178.98.. refer to this website I've found..http://www.bunkyo-rc.com/product_info.php?products_id=277found the website but kinna incomplete...it's made in taiwan..http://www.leoengines.com/eng/introduction/AboutUs.asp . The best thing about this engine also can start without using glow and hex starter. The starter can be install directly to the heli and can start by just pulling the starter cable attach to the heli and it's good to go.
I migth be venturing back into nitro..hehehe..The design is simple and straight forward. At the end of this month I'll drop by at bunkyo to look at this heli much closer..hmm perhaps perhaps perhaps..Sunday, October 21, 2007
My stupid mistake
Stupid..stupid...stupid...argh...ok this is what had happened..last 2 days another crash because of my careless stupid mistake. My ELITE suddenly gone mad in the air. I was struggling to take it down..finally no matter what I've done to take control of the situation..shit happen..opss...
Crash analysis. Well, I had replaced all the balls and make a mistake by screwing one of the ball screw on the right side cyclic servo horn with shorter screw which is not supposedly for it. This screw fall off during flight and caused lost cyclic control. This crash cost me bended flybar, 2 servo gears and 1 servo burned out (ouch!! dunno what happen to this servo).
Lesson learn: always make sure my heli fit to fly. Check everything...

I hate ABF battery!!!
This is my personal review on ABF 2200mah 20c lipo..
ABF is one of the cheapest Lipo I can buy other than my trusty EMAX. At first I thought that this lipo can perform as good as EMAX and my thought was wrong!!!. After just 15 cycles this battery start to "on and off bloat". What I meant by on and off is that it's bloat right after usage but then "unbloat" after it cool down. It also lack of power punch when doing some mild 3d. Last day when I'm doing inverted with my ELITE, it does not have enough power to sustain inverted and of course lah you now what happen next. CRASH!!! For the price I say this battery is only suitable for foam plane not for EP helicopter where it require high current draw. The price tag for this battery is about rm120.

Happy Eid Futer
Well, It's has been a while since my last writing. Today is the third of Eid Futer and I'm already back from my kampung. Well last time I had the problem again. My motor stop working for a few second during normal flight. I think it's time to retire both my motor and ESC and replace with the new one. Anyway this motor had serve me well for the last 11 months with uncounted crashes :). So I take out Align 35G ESC + brand new Align 3550KV from my Airwolf and put it on Elite. Both electronic systems gain my trust so far and I'm truly happy with it's performance.

Crash!!!
That's what was happened during my third attempt to perform roll. I think maybe too much negative during half roll but then my Elite already decent to mother earth..warg..but it's part of learning curve. .It's normal actually to crash. Learn from your mistakes. That's at least my motto is. Even in life. Elite frame is so durable with no damage to the body..the damage is kept to minimum..only bended main + feathering shaft, and broken blade (around RM50). Well that's how it is in piloting RC helicopter or plane..remember crash is part of learning.
You'll never crash mean you never learn..
Today I went to our weekly funfly gathering at Peremba mini stadium Alor Setar. My Elite perform flawlessly.. It's great to have it back on the flying field. Flew my zagi a few times..today 3 casualties among heli pilots recorded. 1 Belt-CP by our sifu, 1 hurricane owned by nubli and raptor titan doing a hard landing by our local heroes adik am..
be safe guys...happy flying..
Pilot log: Crash on 3/9/2007 (wednesday at 6.00 pm)

Ok flying day
Well today I started at 5.30 p.m and ended at 6.30 p.m. Today's flying session was OK but something has happened during my second lipo. My Elite seems lost control during nose in descend. The motor stop responding for a second. I land and check for problem. It seems that everything is OK but then I had noticed something. My throttle stick revolution seems weird. When I pull up the throttle around 10 percent there is no respond but then only after 10% then the blade start spinning. Other than this everything was fine. Well this is common problem just reprogram my ESC then walla..problem solved. Overall today's flying session is OK but not as good as the day before.
The following images is my regular flying site. It's an archery range in UUM. It's a nice place to fly small electric heli and plane.

What a day
Fantastic and perfect..what a day..actually I'm talking about my flying session..hehe. This evening is perfect for polishing my skills. Starting from 5.30pm until 6.30pm non-stop flying with my Elite. Not a single blow of wind.
I can say now my orientation is getting better and better. I can attack from any angle, left and right, nose tail, circuit far more confident, N-D funnel is perfect, low inverted much2 better. What can I say. Can't get any perfect than today. Flying with 4 lipos tagged 8 minutes each. Luv my lipos..value for money..

Simple guideline
Wanna jump into this exciting hobby? This is a simple guideline for you before seriously consider to join this exciting hobby and make it as ur part of your life.
1. Always remember this is not a toy but hobby. Take it seriously or you might endangering others.
2. This is not a cheap hobby. Do not invest your self in cheap RC product that is not reliable. There is no trade for safety. Remember cheap = unreliable.
3.Do not play your RC helicopter/plane/car/ if there is children around. They might be jumping into your flying/track range and you might hit them with your precious RC and can be severely injured them and in some cases can even resulted into death!!!. FYI for electric 450 size helicopter, its blades rotates at approximately 2500-2900 rpm!!!. You don't wanna this thing to hit your loves one right?
4.Stay tuned..;D

List of my helicopter flying skills so far
This is a list of my helicopter flying techniques that I can do and some I'm still learning how to do it properly. After grueling 8 months of training this is the list that I can do. Not much but for a lone pilot it's OK i guess.
So far I'm satisfied with the skills that I acquired with the help of my good sifu (umran).
- Tail-in hover
- Side-in hover (both sides - 90 degrees)
- Nose-in hover (ground and up)
- Forward flights (slow and fast)
- Loop
- Pirouette hover
- Circuit (left and right side)
- Nose-down funnel but needs improvement
- Figure 8
- Cuban figure 8 but needs improvement
- Nose-in inverted but needs improvement
- Stationary flip (nose down and nose up)
So far I'm satisfied with the skills that I acquired with the help of my good sifu (umran).
My Helicopters
I have 2 RC helicopters one is Dragonus II SA which has been fused with Airwolf body and the second is Dragonus II NV. The following is my setup for my NV:
1. Cyclic servos : 3 x Hitec HS56
2. Tail servo: Hitec HS 65MG
3. Gyro: Futaba GY240
4. ESC: Align 25A ESC
5. Motor: Align 3550KV
6. Receiver: Futaba 6 chn
This is my Dragonus II SA Airwolf. (Electronic setup for my Airwolf is the same with my NV only the differences are on the ESC (35A Align) and the tail servo (Hitec HS56).

My life so far
OK this is my first blog ever created on the WWW. My objective for this blog is I'm going to record what ever happen in my life so far be it my beloved hobby (playing remote control helicopter and airplane) or my own 2cents about what is going on around me.
I'm also would like to share my experience playing RC helicopter and plane with people who interested in this hobby.
