Dragonus vision canopy

New canopy in action

I don't like the new vision canopy so I did some modification to the canopy. This is my modification to it. My paint job ain't great..it's crude but heck I just wanted a clear to see color. I think I like this design better then the original one that suppose to look like this.

Reviving my dragonus

Dragonus is my first training heli which really help me a lot to learn and progress up to my current level. But after I started to invest in new heli because of the vibration problem of my dragonus for the past several years. I had to retired all my dragonus and fixed them with fuselage. But later then after I've sold my current 3d training heli 450v2 to my friend I've decided to bring my dragonus back. And the feeling was awesome. I can do my 3D the way I like it. I can start my idle up and go straigth to inverted from the ground. The stability makes me fall in love back with my dragonus.

Here is some of the picture of my dragonus with new canopy I took from my 450v2. I like this canopy better than dragonus original canopy since it much harder and crash resistance. It can protect my lipo incase of crashes. Although I had to do some mod to the canopy support to move it to the front.

Corona CT8F V2 DSSS for futaba

My first experience with corona 2.4Ghz system. I bought this set second hand from my good fellow kelfo from mrc together with Futaba 9chp..really good deal. I believed this is the model spec. This system uses DSSS technology.

Spec.
Size: 37mm*59mm*22mm
Voltage : 4.8 V - 6V
Range : more than 1500m
Operating current : 30 MA
Sensitivity : 100dbm
Latency : 22ms

Included.
Futaba 2.4Ghz Module
Antenna
2.4Ghz Receiver

1. Fit nicely on the back of FF9 module slot. No wobble or moving part. Feel secure. Antenna design look like Assan module. The case design was not so presentable. Not as nice as Assan design.

2. The receiver is 8 Channel 2.4Ghz DSSS Receiver. The price is not bad aground usd22.
Spec.
Size : 46mm*25mm*16mm
Voltage : 4.8 V - 6V
range : more than 2100m
Operating current : 30 MA
Sensitivity : -100dbm
Latency : 22ms

I put this rx on 450v2 and fit nicely under the heli compartment. More than enough channel (8ch!!).

Binding takes bring me a little puzzle. Takes me a while to understand the binding procedure. Where you need press button under the rx belly and power on the rx. Then press the button behind the tx module then power up the tx. Then Wait for the binding confirmation. Then it's done.

3. First flight. Before that on the "switching on" procedure you have to switch on your tx first and leave it for around 10 seconds then power up your rx. The boot-up latency is quite high compared to Assan where you don't have to wait for that long. If you switch on your rx before the module initialize then your esc will stuck indefinitely and you need to cycle it back. Before this I though I have to switch on my esc first then my tx since it really worked that way. But then I've realized that I power up my esc quite fast before the tx done it's initialization.

During the flight test this morning I did noticed the servo jitter a bit but for a split second (or maybe my imagination). 2-3 times before take off. But after than everything was OK.

Good point
1. Cheap as dirt
2. Range??? the rx labeled as full range...never tested this claimed.
3. hmmm

Bad point
1. Unattractive module and rx case design
2. Binding a bit weird and confusing
3. Servo Jitter???
4. Boot up latency quite high
5. Powering up is quite strange since it need to switch on the esc first then the radio. Strange right?

Conclusion
Although the kit price is very cheap but I would prefer Assan system over corona. But this just my own view. Also the rx price range is almost the same.

Flash EPP

New EPP 3D plane coming this week. Flash EPP rc-factory bought from singahobby.com. Although after countless flight my souka still standing and only suffered very minor bruises here and there but then I've decided to keep a new EPP plane if anything happen to my lovely souka. The only thing that I don't like souka is that it easily torn due to thin EPP near the wing area and landing gear. Flash has full EPP construction with thick fuse profile and aerofoiled wing. At first I'm going to buy Zoom 4D but then after found out the the elevator is made from depron. So flash is full EPP and weight the same as my souka also I can transfer all souka electronics and motors to flash. Should be no problem.

Maiden my addiction

Bring her out today in cold Thursday morning in front of my house. After much delay due to servo problem now she is ready. Well just as expected it's really easy to fly addiction. At first I'm using dual rate to take off but then I switch to the full rate to release her full potential. Addiction really easy to fly and hover. With 20C 2200MAH 3S1P bloated TURNIGY lipo can still hover her without any problem. Much better feel than my late EF extra300 which require 4S lipo to get her to hover.

The only video I've got so far for Addy. Having trouble with the wind and also struggle to keep her in the video cam lens. Also I'm not in the mood so cannot focus on flying. So I stop recording and went back home. I always remind my self if you're not in the mood don't force your self. Hehe or else you'll bring back ruins.

Align GP780 Gyro

This is a brand new gyro from Align. I bought this gyro to replace my elcheapo HK401 gyro but to my surprise my 500 don't want this lovely upgrade. It rather stay with the HK rather than this state of the art gyro.

I've tried this gyro on my 500 and the tail kicking start back and much2 worse. Switch back to HK401 and problem solved. I wonder what's wrong. Hmm

Yak 55 at Peremba

For the first time peremba received a new member..a 50cc size gasser plane..
For sure peremba can accommodate gasser. Hope to see more gasser in the future..
