Finally it's here..introducing Yak55 my first 50cc gasser plane.

HK401B Gyro Tail Holding Test

This is my review of HK401B gyro with video.

Some piro and tail stop..collective punch..you can see from my video. Tail really stop at my command, very responsive, unleash my Align DS520 servo performance. No drift so far. I like the feel of it. Only time will tell will it hold to it's claim. But hey who can complain for the really cheap as dirt price.

No hard 3D test only inverted, some tic toc, and flip and so far it's hold very nice to the feeling. Sorry the video only shows some piro to show the holding capability of the gyro.

A scale UH1 owned by my good friend..Captain Faisal. Very scale looking with all the Marine details...total setup cost him around rm6000..but worth every ringgit since the assembly and product is top quality.

50 cc on the way

My first gasser. Yak 55 50cc plane bought second hand from Ah Ban's friend. I 'm going to install the following equipment:
1. RCGF 50cc B engine
2. 2 x SM 9kg aileron servo
3. 4 x SM 12kg rudder, elevator
4. 1 x SM 6kg throttle servo
5. Prop 22x8

Working on Addiction

100% completion..going to maiden tomorrow..hopefully not windy..

Start building my addiction.
1. Start checking all control surface to see if there is any warp. My elevator warp a little. Apply some heat to fix it.
2. Servo installation. I'm using hs65hb on all controls. Need to enlarge the servo bay a bit since hs65 is a bit bigger. Carefully cut all the servo bay with sharp knife. Still working on the aileron.
3. Pushrod's installed.
4. Rudder and elevator installed. Be very careful with the rudder and elevator alignment. I had forgot to check the alignment but luckily all nicely aligned.
5. Motor mount lock and glued. Lock the pin and glue the mount using wood glue.
6. Motor has been mounted.
7. Landing gear attached.
8. All system on accept for the cowling..lost my 1.0mm drill bit..
9. Having trouble with rudder servo suddenly quit working..had to replace with hxt900. Looking good but had to dialed in up to 120 epa to achieve 45 degree rudder deflection.
10. I'm going to maiden this friday..cross my finger..

HK401B gyro on 500 and 450

I'm impress with this gyro..already in shipment..will test on my 500 and 450. Really piss with the bounce problem. Good thing this gyro cheap as dirt.

Arrived today..really no frill gyro..comes with no box what so ever...just a plain plastic bag with no instruction..haha..will test out today..

Update..(26 March 2010)
Finally the problem has been solved. The problem is with the ESC. After trying all the things that sensible to solve it then I suddenly got the idea of try to use different ESC. I use my spare turnigy 60A and magically all problem solved. But I couldn't find any reason behind that. Maybe the ESC voltage to the receiver going crazy and cause the rudder signal to go loco. Maybe..dunno why..


Currently I'm having trouble with both my heli regarding tail bounce problem when doing piro stop. Tail will bounce 2-3 times before stopping. I've tried various gyro setting but still the problem won't go away. I had this problem before with my 401 a very loong time ago but this time both my EP heli had this disease. Huh..3 weeks still no solution..I'm thinking the problem with the gyro. Both heli using PG800 gyro a so called spartan clone paired with align DS520.

This is my current setting on my PG800

I've tried reduce the LRPIRGAIN, RUD-GAIN, DEC-EXP, ACC-EXP. Really have no idea what to do. Now waiting for HK401B gyro from Hobbycity to test if the problem comes from gyro.


Update...I just install 401B on both of my problematic heli's and guess what..the problem solved..I think..my test this evening showed that the bounce keep to very minimum (almost none) and the tail lock solid. I felt much confident doing 3D with it compared to my old gyro. Will test out more tomorrow..I'm very happy with it..





Update 13/01
1. Test no 2 on 450. Once my tail servo looses control and piro by itself but luckily I managed to recover and land safely. Dunno what happen either dumb thumb or heavy wind. But then when I tested again everything looks OK. More test require.
